摘要

The region between Hekouzheng and Longmen in the middle reaches of the Yellow River is the main source area of sediment in the Yellow River, especially coarse sediment. The average rainfall in this region is between 300 mm and 550 mm, and more in south and less in north in spatial distribution. In most cases, rainfall occurs in the form of rainstorm with short duration, maximum daily rainfall can be from 100 mm to 600 mm, and often forms sharp flood process with high sediment content. Since 1970 s, the soil and water conservation have been carried out in large scale in the Loess Plateau, which caused the change of underlying surface in the region, and the characteristic of flood with rainstorm have been changed greatly.
