Abstract: The possibility of incorporating evanescent wave components of the scattered field into diffraction tomographic reconstruction algorithms offers new options to improve the resolution in reconstructive diffraction tomography. Evanescent wave information has however not been incorporated into diffraction tomographic reconstruction algorithms due to special difficulties that they present. Here we present a generalization of the filtered backpropagation algorithm that incorporates evanescent wave data to improve the resolution limit beyond the usual half wavelength limit.!15
