Stereo vision is a non-contact, instantaneous and precise measuring technique. In addition, it provides a complete and permanent record of all the objects in the field of view of the data acquisition system. Three-dimensional coordinates of surface points on objects of various sizes can be measured with an accuracy of 1:10,000 or better. The system described has been designed to minimize the well known difficulties associated with stereo vision.
