Use of nano and micro particles in industrial processes has been increasing during the last years. The traditional methods for evaluation of size distribution are not always able to suitably characterise very fine products corning from different processes. For this reason it has been suggested to model the size distribution density as a signal. The size-signal has been then elaborated through series analysis. In particular Fourier analysis has been carried out on comminution products of different materials coming from different operating conditions. It results that the absolute value of the complex vector obtained by Fast Fourier Transform algorithm shows trends that are strictly related to the nature of the particles being the traditional methods unable to highlight the solid behaviour under different process condition.
