The ITS system in Singapore provides real-time traffic and incident data over thernexpressway network in a 24/7 manner. Due to the huge amount of data, little has been donernto explore hidden patterns and their relationships for traffic control and incident management.rnThis has motivated the authors to investigate knowledge acquisition potentials from relationalrndatabases for development of a KBES. The knowledge acquisition process follows arnhierarchical sequence in building a knowledge base, from a low to a high level of abstraction:rndata - information - knowledge. The Blaze Advisor software is introduced as a rule enginernfor representing and implementing the KBES for real-time traffic control in incidentrnmanagement.
