摘要

The purpose of this work is to report on a method for overcoming the effects of severe mesh distortion in finite element analyses. The method entails the replacement of arbitrary quadrilaterals, in computations, by parallelograms that are close to the original elements, in a rigorous sense. The resulting approach is referred to as an affine-approximate method, and is developed in the context of enhanced assumed strains with low-order elements. Theoretical results on convergence of the method are presented, and its extension to problems involving Mindlin-Reissner plates is discussed.
