摘要

Functional testing is an indispensable component in software testing. Manually performing functional testing demands a lot of resources and carries a lot of risks. Given its importance in software development, there is a pressing need to explore better alternatives that can reduce the associated resources and risks. Automated functional testing is one such alternative that has become more and more feasible as software testing technology matures. Mastering testing automation tools requires a good understanding of its working and the difference with manual testing. Furthermore, testing automation scripts should be prepared as portal as possible such that test scripts can be run on different platforms without modification. The importance of all is a methodology that provides a proven practice of automated functional testing. This paper describes a methodology for automated functional testing. A case study of its application on a real-time stock trading system is also given.
