摘要

GPRS is an important transitional phase from GSM to UMTS. Based on the analysis of RLC/MAC procedures of GPRS, a D-BMAP/D/1 queuing model is applied to analyze the performance of data services, such as mean RLC/MAC queue length, delay and loss rate of mini-packets, in which a simplified one phase access procedure, different service rate, timer size and buffer size are taken into account. The analysis results show that: (1) Delay and loss rate decrease with longer timer T3182; (2) Loss rate greatly decreases with larger buffer size; (3) The faster the setup rate is, the less delay and smaller loss rate are; (4) Delay increases under the greater probability with which new session generates. In addition, QoS is improved under more channels assignment. While delay and loss rate are changed unclearly with the various numbers of packet calls in a session.
