Three inoculation methodssoil-infested with V.dahliae grown on wheat bran and corn meal, soil infested with microsclerotia nad root dipped in a spore suspensio were compared in greenhouse for their effectiveness in infection and development of Verticillium wilt of cotton. Disease progress was more rapid and induced symptoms were more severe following root dipping method. The entire test for the root dipping method took only 35-45 days whereas the other two methods took 75 days. For the root-dipping method, the disease was more severe at the inoculum density fo 10 sup 5 nad 10 sub 6 conidia/ml than at 10 sup 4 conidia/ml.
