Calculation of Phase Transformation Kinetics from Dilatation Curves

A model has been developed in which the transient dilatation is calculated based on the fraction of thephases present and the redistribution of carbon is taken into account. The model was applied to determinate thephase transformation kinetics from the dilatation data during a cooling process of hypoeutectoid steel. Theexperiments for interstitial-free steel and C-Mn steel have been carried out The transformation kinetics indicatedby dilatation curves has been calculated by use of the model. It is shown that there are excellent agreementsbetween the calculation results and the experiments results, and the model is validated.
