A tool to aid design of secure networks, the security engineeringnexpert designer, is described. Guidance provided by the expert systemnincludes automatically determining the classification of unspecifiednsoftware or hardware components. The authors describe the basicntechnical approach used in representing and modeling trusted networks,nand show how the tool can be applied to greatly decrease the time andncost to develop and deploy multilevel secure systems.
