The authors consider the problem of optimally scheduling userntraffic in military satellite communications system using a hybridnspace-division multiple access (SDMA)/frequency-division multiple accessn(FDMA)/time-division multiple access (TDMA) scheme. The minimum framenlength required to schedule all the traffic is derived as well as annalgorithm for scheduling the traffic in the minimum length frame. Oftennin such systems, the traffic demand exceeds the system capacity, and thentraffic must be scheduled optimally so that system utilization isnmaximized. For this situation, an expression for the maximum amount ofntraffic that can be satisfied is derived and a procedure for finding thenmaximum subset of the original requirements is presented
