Results from laboratory studies havernshown that improvements in pulpingrnperformance can be obtained byrndecreasing the concentration of dissolvedrnwood solids throughout thernbulk phase of delignification.This ledrnto the development of a new continuousrncooking process: Lo-Solids? pulping.rnThe objective of the new pulpingrnprocess is to minimize the concentrationrnof dissolved wood solids throughoutrnthe bulk phase of delignificationrnwhile maintaining, as with otherrnforms of modified cooking, an “even”rnalkali profile, minimal cooking temperatures,rnand minimal concentrationsrnof dissolved lignin at the end ofrnthe cook.
