摘要

Reactive power flow compensation is frequently used in distribution networks for active power loss reduction, voltage level improvement or power factor correction. Usually, the capacitor banks placement in the system is made with multiobjective optimization methods. Such a new optimization algorithm is discussed in this paper, where the objective function takes into account the reduction of power losses and the maximization of the voltage stability margin. Genetic Algorithms are used to find the optimal solution. Tests are performed on networks with radial and meshed configurations.
