A calculation model is presented for machine elements operated in the mixed lubrication regime. Both fluid film pressure and asperity contact pressure are calculated to obtain pressure distribution. A non-Newtonian Ree-Eyring fluid model is employed and isothermal and stationary conditions are assumed. Multigrid techniques are applied which facilitate examinations of fine grids and, therefore, rough surfaces. An example is given for elasto-hydrodynamic lubricated (EHL) point contact under various surface velocities.
