SEEPAGE CALCULATION OF HARDFILL DAM ON PERVIOUS FOUNDATION

The analytical solution of Hardfill dam's seepage discharge and phreatic line are deducted under different permeability dam foundation when blanket is taken as the main seepage prevention measure of the dam foundation. According to the seepage prevention similarity of the Hardfill dam and earth dam with a sloping core particularly the similarity of the upstream seepage proof facing plate of Hardfill dam and sloping core of the earth dam in seepage prevention, the methods that are used to calculate earth dam's seepage discharge and phreatic line are applied to the Hardfill dam. Basing on the usual practice of the hydraulics calculation, dam body and dam foundation are calculated separately. The dam body seepage discharge is obtained by coupling the facing plate, middle area of dam body and down triangle area, and the phreatic line in the dam is gotten by the known dam body seepage discharge; the semi-confined aquifer differential equation is used to calculate dam foundation seepage discharge. At last, analytical solution of Hardfill dam's seepage discharge and phreatic line are compared to the FEM solution to verify their accuracy.
