摘要

This paper presents a summary of styling trends, architectural types, layout solutions and design innovations, for catamarans below 24m in length, based on the extensive experience of Albatross Marine Design. Special attention is given to superstructure configurations, where differences in aerodynamics have been studied. Common design problems are reviewed and the advantageous design parameter ranges, where catamarans show their benefits, are identified. Catamaran design guidelines are delineated with associated rationales for their shapes, layouts and engineering feasibility.
