Polyimide/silicone-epoxy (PI/ES) coatings were successfully formulated and cast on Alrn2024-T3 coupons and their corrosion performance was evaluated using DC Polarization (DCP).rnDCP tests showed that, after 15 days of immersion in 3.5% NaCl, PI coatings containing 2% ESrnshowed better retention of corrosion inhibiting properties. The polarization resistance (R_p),rnvalues of 3.62 kΩ, 6.46 MΩ and 0.193 MΩ were obtained for PI and PI coatings containing 2%rnand 5% ES. Contact angles results showed increasing hydrophobility (high contact angle) withrnincreasing concentration of ES. Dynamic mechanical analysis results showed enhanced gammarn(γ) and beta (β) relaxation in PI/ES coatings as well as a significant increase in the rubberyplateaurnmodulus. The presence of ES produced a duplet T_g of 344 ℃ and 437 ℃ for the PI/ESrnhybrid.
