In this study, atomistic simulations have been used to investigate the mechanicalrnproperties of cracked gold nanowires under different torsional loading conditions. A crack ofrnhave been created in the nanowire and the torsional loading is applied on the cross-section of thernwire at different rates. The inter-atomic interactions are represented by employing embeddedatomrnpotential (EAM). The effect of the applied torsional loading, on the mechanical propertiesrnof the nanowire, are part of the whole investigation. The mechanical properties like virial stressesrnon regions near the crack are studied. It is predicted from our simulation that there is significantrneffect of the presence of the crack on the mechanical properties of the gold nanowire
