This work aims to study the influence of glass composition on SnO_2 and ZrO_2rnsolubilization in soda-lime glasses.rnTo determine their limits of solubility, soda-lime glass was crushed with SnO_2 or ZrO_2rnpowder. Samples of the oxide/glass mix were annealed at temperatures comprised betweenrn1200℃ and 1400℃, for times up to 100 hours. Oxides over-saturation in the silicate melt wasrncontrolled by SEM. In the case of zirconia, these observations revealed precipitation of zirconrnZrSiO_4. A similar study was thus performed on zircon solubility. The content of dissolved oxidernwas measured by EPMA. Further experiments were led in glasses enriched with Na_2O, CaO orrnAl_2O_3, in order to differentiate the influences of network modifiers and intermediates.rnLimits of solubility of the three oxides revealed that SnO_2 is the less soluble. Al_2O_3rnlowers considerably the limits of solubility, but the role of Na_2O and CaO seems more complex,rnespecially in the case of SnO_2.
