This paper describes the main operational control changes at ArcelorMittal Tubarao No 1 Blast Furnace with pulverized coal injection start, switching from "all coke" to pci operation. Aiming to keep high productivity, low fuel consumption and long campaign life, the changes in burden distribution and process control parameters done, as well the main coal quality parameters are shown.
