At the time AS/NZS 4600: 1996 was in draft form for public review, the Centre for Advanced Structural Engineering at the University of Sydney embarked on a project to develop a userfriendly computer program, ColdStell/4600, to assist manufactures and practising engineers apply the new standard. Concomitant objectives were the education of students and engineers in the principles of cold-formed design, and promotion of the latter in Australia and NEw Zealand.
