Abstract: Within surgery and medicine the traditional application of the laser is as an incisional and ablative tool. The surgical laser systems of 20 years ago had the same basic tissue effect as today, near instantaneous vaporization of a target tissue by a highly focussed and pin-point accurate beam of light.!0
