摘要

This paper describes some of the chemistry involved in the ultravilet light enhanced oxidation of organic residuals in water as well as the development of full-scale (up to 200,000 GPD) UV/O_3 systems. Our research and development studies involved water containing phenols, aromatic and aliphatic polychlorinated compounds, and aliphatic amines, ketones and alcohols. Also assessed were the fate of amino group nitrogen and the extent of carbon-chlorine bond dissociation in polychlorinated compounds.
