摘要

In 1988 OSHA amended its criteria for recordable injuries. Since that time the company in this paper has made attempts to overcome incident rates that rose from 10.00 in 1987 to 20.06 in 1989. The company's efforts to control safety through OSHA compliance was only moderately successful with the OSHA incident rate only slightly decreasing from 1990 through 1994. In 1993 the company began a search for an effective accident prevention process. The company's search and subsequent implementation of that accident prevention process is the subject of this paper.
