An aircraft Systems Integration Laboratory (SIL) provides an opportunity to evaluate integration designs and avionics modifications under a controlled environment prior to aircraft installation. Looking back on the use of the SIL after integration is complete, provides an opportunity to examine lessons learned for future applications. Techniques and lessons learned from using a combination of actual avionics and simulated dynamic interface data in a controlled, instrumented environment will be examined based on the recent USAF C-20 integration program.
