Dynamics of condensate migration in porous media under ambient treatments

This study is aimed to observe influence of ambient temperature treatments toward lateral migration-flow dynamics of condensate in porous media with different wettability. This observation is conducted by varying the temperatures of saturated vapor-air mixture streamed over the porous bed, of glass-beads and alumina-balls, in a condensation chamber. Walls of the chamber are controlled, respectively, at constant ambient-temperature and at constant temperature-ratio between the ambient to the mixture. In this study, it is known that the ambient temperature influences on gradient of condensate concentration, whereas the wettability affects on resistivity of condensate penetration. By evaluating on subcooling-, diffusive-, and perturbation-parameter, it is identified that the condensate migrates in Darcian regime. In this regime, however, based on visualized evidence and on modified Lyapunov-exponent-base for a finger propagation, it does not only prove that the migration is in uniform- or periodic-dominant flow, but also found nonperodic-dominant character, which creates a separate subregime. Hereafter, temporal chaotic-propagation cases are found in this subregime.
