Typically, image motion analysis in the frequency domain is performed according to the Motion From Fourier Coefficients, or MFFC principle. Howeve,r this principle excludes a class of motion that does not generate power spectra containing the origin of the frequency domain, which is usually referred to as Non-Fourer motion. This type of motion includes phenomena relevant to motion analysis such as translucency, sinusoidal beats, occlusion, Theta motion, and lacks a definitive theoretical framework. We address this problem by deriving exact mathematical expression for Non-Fourier motion, thus providing a basis for computational models for velcoity extraction in the frequency domain. Numerical experiments demonstrating the validity of the approach are also presented.
