This paper presents design technique of CMOS based UWB low noise amplifier using active shunt feedback technique at 0.18µm technology. The proposed low noise amplifier is able to provide high gain with flatness at ultra wideband (UWB) range, which yet consumes small power with simple and compact design model. This LNA is implemented using Cascode amplifier topology with active shunt feedback to fulfill the design parameter requirement. Shunt feedback is properly design to achieve isolation between input and output and to give input matching of 50Ω value. Gain obtained is well above 10 dB with bandwidth of 8.5GHz, maximum value of noise figure over UWB range is 3.7dB,the input third order intercept point(IIP3) at 5GHz (using two tone test) is 5.589. Over all this design parameter values there is power consumption of 12.8mW is obtained. Total die area occupied by circuit is 0.203mm2.
