Tracked earthmoving machine performance is highly dependent upon the interactionrnof the tracks with the earthen material underfoot. Over the years, steady state models havernbeen proposed and implemented based upon the work of Bekker, Wong, and others. Thesernmodels fail to capture the dynamic effects of the track/earth interaction and their subsequentrnimpact on the dynamic response of the machine. This paper compares the effects of thernpresence or absence of soil plasticity on the dynamic response of a tracked machine model.
