摘要

This paper describes the framework for a model for decision making and planning of repair and maintenance interventions on civil engineering structures. This model integrates costs due to failure, intervention and loss of serviceability as well as their variation over time. The model uses system reliability analysis as a tool for determining structural safety and serviceability. Furthermore, a comparison of the importance of cost items is performed, showing that the influence of serviceability costs is significant and that they must be considered during the planning of structural repair and maintenance strategies.
