Summary form only given. The remaining issues of the currentPlasma Display Panel (PDP) research are efficiency enhancement and powerreduction. For this purpose we use 2-D fluid, kinetic, and hybridsimulations, which reproduce the Paschen breakdown curve and thesecondary electron emission coefficient. We examine various geometries,gas compositions, and material properties to optimize the powerconsumption distribution and the light emission efficiency. For example,the efficiency can be enhanced by varying the front dielectric shape togenerate more Xe excited states or by increasing the rear dielectricconstant to modify the plasma distribution in the cell. Pulse shapevariation can also affect the PDP cell properties. A proper pulseshaping can reduce the power consumption inside the cell. The electronsremain longer because of the weakened electric field to produce moreexcited Xe, which increases the overall light efficiency,
