The focus of this study was to investigate the use of advanced oxidation processes to oxidize 1, 3, 5-trichlorobenzene (TCB) in water. As TCB is reactive with ozone and OH radicals, it was used as the model compound. Ozone, ozone/UV, ozne/hydrogen peroxide and ozne/UV/hydrogen peroxide were compared. All studies were conducted in a photochemical reactor which as been modified to allow for continuous flow. A ten minute retention time was used. All studies, except those in which pH was investigated, were conducted at a pH of 7.0.
