This paper is intended to describe the application of ozone as a stand alone cooling tower water treatment, the design criteria and how well the tower meets the criteria. The main intention for using ozone was that no blowdown was necessary, thus eliminating the cost to run a blowdown line and the additional costs form ake-up water. a Cooling Tower serving a 650 ton chiller in process cooling system was set up to have ozone as the sle methd of treating the water. Temperature Data is presented to show that there are no deposits on the condenser tubes that interfere with the transfer of heat. Data from corrosion coupons indicates very low rates for the system. The effects of water chemistry on the operations of the cooling toware will be discussed.
