摘要

Extensive human factors research has been done on various aspects of driver and pedestrian safety, including driver perception, design of traffic signs and vehicles, attitudes, fatigue, night driving and the effects of alcohol. However, relatively little has been done on the design of intersections in terms of older driver and pedestrian limitations. Intersections pose special problems for older road users. About 50% of older driver fatalities occur at intersections, most of these during daylight.
