Based on the characteristic of vibrated fluidized bed, the separation of the mixture of coke and cinder discharged from water gas gasifer was investigated in a cylindrical vibrated bed with 148mm diameter. It was found that separating efficiency mainly depends on the stability and voidage of bed. The ideal condition is that the voidage of bed must be as large as possible while keep the bed stable. The factors affecting separating efficiency and the stability of bed were analyzed. A cheap heavy media, with high separating efficiency for the separation of the mixture of coke and slag, was found according to the experimental results. Optimum operation parameters were researched experimentally.
