In this paper a limiting fluid velocity possible to perform the steady state transportation of solids, called 'semi-limiting transport velocity' (semi-limiting velocity), is described from the viewpoint of low power consumption. An empirical equation to predict the semi-limiting velocity is first derived for a fully developed flow in a horizontal pipe. Second, the experiment on the semi-limiting velocity of coarse particles for the flow was conducted. The foregoing equation is comparatively accurate for the experimental data.
