By gas-evaporation technique with induction heating method, Zn fine -particles were prepared. They were investigated by means of x-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, infrared spectrophotometry, and differential scanning calorimetry. The experimental results show that the crystal structure is the same as that of bulk material. Their surfaces are composed of wurtzite ZnO. Several crystal habits are found in the samples. In their infrared spectra, we observed an absorption peak, which can be attributed to the surface phonon absorption within the ZnO coating. In air under ambient conditions, they are rather stable. An exothermal peak appears when the temperature is above 100 °C.
