Gas flow behaviour from two nozzles was studied by means of pitot tabe method in a packed or an incipiently fluidized bed of a Geldart's B particles. A theoretical model for estimating the critical separation of nozzles in the packed bed was proposed and proved successfully by experimental results, it was found that there were two types of the momentum distribution along the horizontal direction outside of the jet penetration region, those are single peak and double peaks. It was shown that bubbles in the fluidized bed coalesced much easily than that in the packed bed. Finally, the relation between the bubble merger strength (λ), first defined in this paper, and the nozzle separation and the exit velocity was discussed both qualitatively and quantitatively.
