Influence of calcium and magnesium ions on dispersion of fine SiO_2 and Fe_2O_3 particles in aqueous solution and elimination of the influence have been studied The mechanism of the aggregation and dispersion behaviors were discussed based on analyzing the measured data of adsorption of ions and potential of the fine particles. It was found that calcium and magnesium ions could induce aggregation of the fine SiO_2 and Fe_2O_3 particles and destroyed the stabilization of well-dispersed suspension due to a charge neutralization caused by the adsorption of CaOH~+ and Mg(OH)_(2(s)) etc.. Addition of AT-802 would eliminate this influence by making zeta potential of those particles more negative even though the concentration of the ions is up to 10~(-3)M.
