In the frame of the LEDA program, the lunar vehicle is designed by the French Space Agency and one of the weak points concerns the power plant of the system. In this first study different solutions are proposed and in each of them are approached the different aspects as: 1. description of the principle, 2. sizing of the different components in term of mass and volume, 3. state of the art, 4. degree of compatibility with the mission and the environment constraints, 5. identified weak points, 6. compatibility with the actual calendar of the program, 7. development risks, Roughly the proposed solutions are the following: 8. a traditional solution consisting in a solar generator associated with a battery and with an additional equipment foreseen in order to maintain the internal temperature of the vehicle in an acceptable range 9. a primary fuel cell solution 10. a solar generator associated with a secondary fuel cell system A point is also made concerning potential solutions like RHGs and power supply by microwaves.
