Using the HERMES loops of the CEA/Nuclear Reactor Division as an experimental support, an overall methodology of fuel qualification has been developed. This qualification of new designs is been imposed by the development, by fuel assemblies' designers, of assembly prototypes in order to increase the burn up fraction. These developments induce changes in hydraulic resistance of assemblies or changes in the mechanical behavior of the structure. Besides, the diversification of fuel suppliers leads nuclear power plant operators to deal with compatibility inside heterogeneous cores.
