The resident heat removal systems (RHRSs) of the chinese Nuclear Heating Reactors consist of several passive natural circulation loops. Experiments were conducted to test the capability of the systems under normal and abnormal conditions. The computer model was developed by using RETRAN-02. The comparisons between the experiments and simulations validate the model. The analysis shows the passive RHRS is reliable to remove the resident heat under normal and abnormal conditions.
