A new technique, in which cell disruption and aqueous two-phase extraction were integrated in a high-speed bead miller to separate recombinant proteins from microbial cells, was developed. The separation steps were reduced and additional extractors and time were saved when the new process was applied to separating recombinant Tumor Necrosis Factor (rTNF) from E.coli.
