摘要

The paper describes a computer aided process planning system GS-CAPP that implements the integration of CAD and CAM. GS-CAPP defines form feature as basic geometric strface that encapsulates the maufacturing significance; It depicts machine tool and other process resource by abstracted inheritable properties. Relationship that expresses general requirements and actions between form-feature and process resource is another key aspect for GS-CAPP. To make the system work effectively, both OODB and KDB are used. OODB stores properties of form feature and process resources. Knowledge base records relationship between process resource and form feature. Coupled structure provides the user with applicability of OODB and KDB concurrently. For an easy operation, GS-CAPP system provides hot menu and main ones.
