The Stirling engine has not been in practical use in spite of a protential of high thermal efficiency because of the relativly low specific power, the low reliability of sealing and the high production cost. In particular, the heater and the combustor equipped with the air preheater cause the increase of the cost and the decrease of the specific power. Internal combustion Stirling engine has a possibility to get rid of these disadvantages. Several researchers (2) have proposed internal combustion Stirling engine and reported the experimental results. However the performances have not been so high as the conventional Stirling engines.
