The future goal in chemical finishing of substrates, whether nonwovens or other structures, is directly tied to the conservation of resources and maximum emphasis on minimal discharge of pollutants carried in either air or water which leave the manufacturing facilities. Also, the market demands greater flexibility and innovation because the competition gets stiffer. The need for innovation has never been greater. Fabrics with softer hand, stiffer or greater flexibility, etc., with multi-functional properties are emerging at ever increasing rates. In addition, the concern for the environment has already become a decisive factor in many cases and an even greater concern will likely emerge in the future.
