摘要

Control of waste sources within a watershed has become an increasingly important public health issue. Many states including North Carolina, Georgia, and California, are faced with non-point source waste pollution which increases risk of infection via recreational and shellfish growing waters. Due to mixed land uses within watersheds, various sources of fecal pollution contribute to the non-point source pollution of a region. For example, animal husbandry activities contribute to 1/3 of all agricultural non-point source runoff in the U.S. (1).
