Rotator Cuff Arthropathy (RCA) is an arthritis that develops in the shoulder after a massive thar of the rotator cuff muscles (Neer, 1983) (Figure 1). The tear allows the humerus to sublux superiorly, leading to eccentric glenoid loading and abnormal ware on the articular surfaces. RCA patients experience significant pain and shoulder dysfunction. Surgical alternatives include cuff repair, subacromial decompression / debridement, and hemiarthroplasty. In advanced RCA patients, hemiarthroplasty with an oversized humeral head prosthesis to allow "acromiohumeral" articulation often decreases pain, put does little to improve function.
