Innovative Methods for Recycling Wastewater in Power Plants to Reduce Impact on Zero Discharge Systes

In regions where discharge of plant wastewater has stringent requirements or is not technically feasible, wastewater treatment and reuse methods must be demonstrated by power plant developers ot obtain financing and continue with the plant permitting process. For savings in plant capital cost, the water management plans must therefore include both minimization of wastewater and elimination of final discharge. Some innovative methods for wastewater recycle and zero discharge of wastewater were discussed in previous papers presented at this and other conferences. `1,2,3 Both fossil fuel-fired boilers and combined cycle plants were discussed in these earlier papers. A considerable amount of innovation has been done with power plant wastewater recycle since these earlier papers were presented, therefore some of these newer innovative concepts have been included in this paper.
